QUICK BITE: Another Flight, Another Lounge

We have a two hour layover in JFK.  What's there to do?  With select American Express cards, you can access the Centurion Lounge. These are lounges found at many major airports around the world. Some lounges offer complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic  beverages and food but will have some items that are extra charge, such as higher end liquor and wine.   This one in JFK is completely complimentary to everyone who can access it.   Grabbed a quick lunch and a local beer from Bronx Brewery called A Year of Hazy.

The standout was the watercress salad. Peppery arugula, blue cheese, walnuts and pomegranate seeds tossed in a slightly sweet vinegrette. So good and fresh tasting.

The grilled chicken was moist and flavorful.  I ha so a side of pasta which was in a slightly garlcaly sauce.

The mushroom soup was all about the mushroom.  It could have been a little more pureed, but had good beefy flavor.

QUICK BITE: Make Your Own McGriiddle

We are hanging out in the Delta Sky Lounge awaiting our flight to JFK.   Always a great place to go if you have a few hours. Good coffee, snacks and included cocktails.  Even if the buffet doesn't have what you are looking for, you can make something you would like.

They had waffles, turkey sausage, eggs and jelly.  Let's turn these into something else.

Lets call it an Upgraded McGriiddle.

I love the combination of strawberry jam and spicy sausage.  Sweet and spicy go so well together.  Never be disappointed by the offerings at a buffet.  You can often make a new snack and call it your own.
