SeaWorld Orlando Craft Beer Festival

Fun day today!!   Arrived at 1:30.  After a quick stop at the kiosk to get our $10 of SeaWorld bucks we went off to take a look at the offerings.  Some great ciders this year.  The Broski Ciderworks Passion Fruit Cider was my favorite.  Second place was Key Line Apple Cider from Three Daughters.

For food, my two favorite were the Pork Nacho Waffle Fries and the Buffalo Chicken Empanada.

I did try the wings and onions rings from the Yuengling stand.

Chicken wings were pretty good. Onion rings were uneven.  Some were greasy. Some were crispier.  The seasoning was terrific.  Also tried the fried green tomato slider.   The pimento cheese and arugula really helped here. It didn't need the onion ring.

If you order the three punches for free online and download that barcode, that is all you need to scan at each kiosk.ro.redeem.  They scan once for each item. I am a gold pass member and did get my temporary upgrade to Platinum. I received 20% discount on what we purchased.   Helped with the beer since they were a little pricey at $10.99 for 20 ounces before discount.

Trying Bud Light Chelada

I believe this has been around for a few years.  Had never tried it.  Was hoping it was similar to Sol Chelada which I had in Cozumel about eight years ago. That was a very good breakfast beer.   Perhaps made better since I drank it while watching the sun rise from a rooftop.   The Bud Light version is just okay,.  It tastes like Bud Light and Clamato.  So it delivers on its promise.

Pro Tip: Make sure you gently shake the can to mix it.  Otherwise you will end up with different consistency.

QUICK BITE: Fermented Ale Tasting: Panil Divina

The first in my series of tasting several large format bottles of sour and farmhouse style ales.  These are all beers that have some level of fermentation.   First up is Panil Divina which is a lambic style of beer.  Lambics are fermented using wild yeast - and based on the bottle it is yeast from under a full moon.

It is very frothy on the pour, accounting for all the yeast.  It is a bit cloudy for the same reason.  You have to be careful pouring since you don't want that yeast in your glass.  Yeast is great in bread dough but not the best tasting experience on its own.
The taste is dry, almost like a dry Sauvignon Blanc with some notes of stone fruit, especially peach.  Different tastes immerge as the ale warms up. I am detecting blackberries and strawberries.
