Seaday Brunch on Carnival Magic

One of the unique dining options on Carnival Cruise Lines is the Seaday Brunch. As the name suggests, it is only on sea days and the menu items weigh more heavily on brunch the breakfast.  Over the years to they have changed their menu and removed a few favorite items such as a smoked tomato soup and bacon mac and cheese. But there are still some great items.

I went with the Salmon Super Food salad.

A nice grilled piece of salmon with a combination of raw and roasted veggies. There was fresh radish, cucumbers, tomatoes, pickled onions and some well seasoned diced and roasted squash.  A very simple vinegrette.   The fish was served on a bed of creamy farro.

Also tried the fried chicken.

This could have been crispier bit had some great flavor.  The sauces were what made the dish.  One was some maple syrup and the other was a sausage gravy.

Also tried the 12 Hour French Toast.
This was a slick slab or bread that had been soaked with a vanilla flavored egg custard. Them it was grilled so that the outside was really crispy, yet the inside was pillowy and custardy (yes - that is a word).  It was topped with grilled peaches and came with maple syrup. I would have like some more peaches, but otherwise, this was a successful dish.
