Started with a couple of signature cocktails.
Tbis was similar to a margarita except made with mezcal. It had a bit of heat and of course was topped with some crunchy dried crickets. I have had them before as a topping in a taco and they add a great crunch. They were interesting here, but not really functional since it was hard to dig the out of the glass.
We ordered a few starters. Always have to get esquites if it is on the menu.
This had corn that had been freshly shaved fr.tue cob. I could tell since several kernels were stuck together. Esquites is a traditional Mexican street food made with fresh corn, mayo, lime juice, chili powder and cojita cheese.
Also tried the aguachiles This is fresh fish in a combination of lime juice, salt, cilantro and Chiles. Thin slices of cucumbers and onion are added. It is a very refreshing dish.
Also tried the shrimp which was grilled and served on top of a mole-like sauce. There were some al dente green beans for some crunch.
These had been freshly made and had some delicious melted cheese and crema. The sliced onions added some crunch and heat.
And if you were wondering we did order the Mexican staple of guacamole.
This was kept chunky so you could really taste the avocado. The crisp chips had just enough salt to bring out the corn flavor.
Our waiter Victor somehow thought we needed a snack before our main course so he brought out some snake mix from the bar which had peanuts and sesame crackers.
Then our main course arrived. One of the best Ribeyes I have had. Cooked a perfect medium and topped with melted Mexican cheese and an adobe pepper sauce. So flavorful.
And Victor again thought we might still be hungry so he brought the chorizo. This was ground chorizo which has potatoes on top. The chorizo was milder than I like but had some great flavor. The potatoes always help sop up any of the bits of chorizo and sauce.
Dessert was chocolate tacos. These were two crispy chocolate shells filled with a creamy tres leches. There was a cherry sauce on the side that didn't complement the tacos. It really needed to be a chocolate sauce since the tacos lacked enough rich chocolate flavor for my taste.
